Land Acknowledgement

We are guests on the unceded ancestral lands of the Lenape people who have lived in what is now known as New Jersey for thousands of years. The Indigenous peoples here endured the devastating impacts of colonialism: the theft of their land, genocide, forced displacement, and cultural erasure. Despite these injustices, the Lenape people continue to maintain a profound connection with these lands and waters, as they have for countless generations. Within this landscape—a living dialogue between river, forest, meadow, and shore; oak, heron, fox, and wild rose—the Lenape people carry forward generations of traditional knowledge and diverse ways of understanding. We honor with deep respect the land itself and the Lenape people who have cared for it throughout the centuries.
